The Benefit and Leave Administrator handles all inquiries about company insurance and retirement benefits, ensures that employees receive the proper benefits package, follows up with health care providers and investment brokers, implements and administers Vista Care’s leaves, and workers compensation policies and practices. This position resolves complex employee questions and issues, and makes determinations on procedural matters regarding attendance, leave, and worker’s compensation and their specific circumstances.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages employee 401(k) plans.
- Manages employee health insurance and health care plans.
- Assists employees in completing online enrollment for their benefits packages.
- Leads informational sessions on company benefits.
- Calculates the proper paycheck deductions for these benefits.
- Explains the various benefit options to new employees.
- Research alternate options for benefits packages and investment opportunities.
- Addresses employee inquiries about their insurance or retirement benefits.
- Maintains files and records of individual employee benefits.
- Resolves any problems or disputes regarding provision of benefits.
- Reconciles all benefit plan invoices on a monthly basis.
- Stays up to date on state and federal regulations concerning insurance and other employee benefits.
- Ensures all state and federal notices are distributed to employees in accordance with regulations.
- Manages COBRA administration.
- Manages all Worker’s Compensation, FMLA, and personal LOA claims.
- Manages communication with vendors who administer worker’s compensation on behalf of Vista Care.
- Assists employees in completing and filing for a leave of absence.
- Communicates with employees regarding physician appointments and collects all medical paperwork deemed essential when filing for Workers’ compensation or leave.
- Explains the accommodation process to employees and communicates accommodations to leaders.
- Collaborates with the Director of Human Resources on trends and issues surrounding workers’ compensation issues
- Addresses employee inquiries about their leave of absence.
- Acts as liaison between employee and workers’ comp vendors as necessary.
- Makes recommendations to policies and procedures surrounding workers’ compensation, FMLA, and leave of absence.
- Stays up to date on state and federal regulations concerning insurance and other employee benefits.
- Ensures all state and federal notices are distributed to employees in accordance with regulations.
- May be required to travel to corporate offices or regional offices when necessary.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field is required.
- Minor or certificate in Human Resources is preferred.
- Successful completion of the Professional in Human Resources exam is preferred.
- Work experience in HR or benefits is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and insurable driving record that meets Vista Care’s current driving requirements.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and consistently demonstrate effective decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of 401(k) both traditional and Roth.
- Possesses knowledge of the laws surrounding benefits and compensation for employers.
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of different health insurance plans, including HMOs and PPOs.
- Is able to translate legal, medical, and insurance-related jargon into layman’s terms for clarification purposes.
- Exhibits ability to maintain relationships with insurance and healthcare providers.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
