Full Job Description
- Assists in determining unit condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, and identifying deficiencies.
- Works with Journey Level Technician in completing engine overhauls as well as other repairs identified during the diagnostic process.
- Works with Journey Level Technician to verify performance by conducting sea trials, dyno acceptance, and making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Works with Journey Level Technician in containing cost by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
- Works with Journey Level Technician to maintain engine and vessel records with accurate documentation of service and repairs.
- Communicates while on-site with customers in a professional manner.
- Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores value add opportunities.
- Learns how to perform MTU engine commissioning trials and dyno acceptance per manufacture.
- Maintains a safe and organized work environment.
- Cleans and inspects all parts of engine overhaul.
- Measures and requalifies parts for re-use.
- Preserves, vacuum bag, and box engines for shipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Primary (Essential) Duties of the Job:
- Strong laptop/PC skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals, operating instructions, and work orders.
- Verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with technical support, sales, and management.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
Experience/Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- High School mechanical skills/trade program is a plus.
Other Requirements (travel, schedule, own tools, company car, etc.)
- May require travel within an assigned territory or area (AOR). May include travel outside of assigned region, including international.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and insurable.
- Own a basic set of mechanics tools.
- A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is a plus.
- A valid passport is a plus.
- Complete company provided manufacturing training – online and in person.
