Seeking experienced intelligence professionals for our client’s operational requirements on a mission focused program within a challenging, dynamic setting located in McLean, VA. The successful candidate in this position will collaborate with a diverse group of individuals across the intelligence community and directly contribute to processes that shape government policy.
Primary Responsibility:
- Provide guidance on tradecraft and argumentation to the customer as they conceptualize and structure analytic assessments.
- Facilitate the application of the full-range of structured thinking methods and approaches to help manage uncertainty and better address complex, multidisciplinary intelligence problems.
- Work with customer authors to improve the development of estimative outlines and assessments.
- Work with managers and analysts to strengthen argumentation and analytic rigor.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to the customer on their product drafts.
- Perform post-production product evaluations.
- Lead tradecraft consults, facilitations, and collaborative exercises to help the customer expand their thinking and the range of possibilities, refine the understanding of complex issues, organize argumentation, and develop strategies to address uncertainties/gaps, alternative futures/trajectories, and implications for U.S. national security.
- Help identify, evaluate, and adopt new analytic tools-both qualitative and quantitative approaches-to improve the rigor and sourcing in analytic production.
- Facilitate and perform outreach to address tradecraft shortfalls and inculcate the use of tradecraft services and structured analytic techniques.
- Collaborate with customer designers to ensure that their intelligence products incorporate graphics, maps, and other visuals that enhance the presentation of data and analysis while adhering to the highest tradecraft standards.
- Cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with customer and Intelligence Community (IC) colleagues and tradecraft subcommittees, and use those relationships to disseminate tradecraft best practices.
- Assess and report on tradecraft trends and propose actions for overcoming tradecraft gaps.
- May require infrequent travel to support engagements and exchanges with IC partners.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
- 10+ years' experience in the IC, including intelligence analytic standards expertise.
- Experience drafting, structuring, and reviewing all-source analytic products across a range of issues and regions, to include conceptualization, logic, argumentation, and writing skills.
- Knowledge of structured analytic techniques (SATs), tools, and methods and the ability to apply analytic tradecraft during the drafting, review, and production of finished intelligence.
- Ability to advise IC analysts on the proper application of analytic tradecraft to support research design, drafting, and production with the ability to clearly communicate feedback to generalists as well as specialists.
- Ability to facilitate conversations and engagements focused on tradecraft skills, including the demonstrated ability to apply SATs to develop new insights and explore alternative trajectories and future possibilities.
- Ability to apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to effectively moderate analytic discussions involving IC experts and senior stakeholders with competing opinions.
- Ability to leverage interpersonal and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with senior analysts/authors, graphic designers, editors, production officers, and managers to complete projects.
- Demonstrated initiative in carrying out mission responsibilities and the ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of IC production processes and broad knowledge of the role of intelligence analysis in supporting U.S. policymakers, IC leaders, and military operators.
- Typically requires a BA degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.
