Full Job Description
Ampthink is looking for a Systems Engineer to assist in design and administration of internal and external customer infrastructures. The ideal candidate will be able to reliably diagnose and resolve problems quickly and have the patience to communicate with interdisciplinary teams and users.
Responsibilities Include:
- Installation and configuration of software and hardware for internal and external customers.
- Managing network appliances, servers, and monitoring tools.
- Monitoring and maintaining system performance across multiple venues and infrastructures.
- Troubleshooting issues and outages.
- Ensuring security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
- Upgrading systems with new releases as necessary.
- Training coworkers and clients on new technologies and security practices.
- Developing and maintaining internal documentation, manuals and IT policies.
- Managing help desk tickets.
- Taking after hours support requests.
Requirements
The successful candidate will posses:
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role.
- Proven Linux installation, configuration, and administration skills.
- A detailed understanding of the operation of DHCP, DNS, and RADIUS.
- Experience installing and maintaining PostgreSQL, MySQL and other relational databases.
- Experience with open source applications, databases, and network monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
- Ability to create scripts.
- Familiarity with Windows Server.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience with the following tools/skills:
- Scripting in languages such as JavaScript and Python.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Couchbase or other NoSQL databases.
- Experience implementing or supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment tools.
- Experience in automating workflows.
