Accountant Job Description:
- Accountant will proactively review revenue recognition and job costs, ensuring accuracy in month-end reporting.
- The accountant will prepare variance analysis, manage cost and revenue accruals/deferrals, and support regional reporting entities as required.
- Accountant will act as the primary finance contact for assigned business lines, bridging the gap between finance and operations.
- Provide guidance and support to operational teams on financial matters.
- Execute monthly accounting entries, including depreciation, capitalization/disposal of fixed assets, amortization of prepaids, FX adjustments, and more.
- Accountant will reconcile balance sheets, manage intercompany postings and confirmations, and prepare intercompany regional reports.
- Assist with tax compliance, including federal and state income taxes, property taxes, withholding taxes, and other reporting requirements.
- Accountant will collaborate with external CPA firms to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
- Review and enhance financial processes to increase automation and improve reporting efficiency.
- Lead initiatives to streamline cost tracking and implement best practices.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely responses to audit requests and accurate reporting.
- Prepare financial reports, including monthly performance summaries and historic/forecast utilization reports, for submission to HQ.
- Accountant will assist regional accounting teams with day-to-day entries and information requests for low-activity entities.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of full cycle accounting processes, including balance sheet (BS) and profit & loss (P&L) accounts, with experience in accruals/deferrals, job costing, revenue recognition, intercompany eliminations, and foreign exchange (FX) transactions.
- Proven ability to review financial data, implement corrective actions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- ERP systems experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience (preferably with a Big 4 or middle-market firm) OR 3+ years in private accounting with management reporting responsibilities.
- Bachelors in accounting, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to evolving tasks, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
- Advanced expertise in tax reporting, particularly in federal tax compliance (e.g., fixed assets and foreign payments), is preferred.
- Management Accountant experience in a related industry and CPA certification or active CPA candidacy are strongly desired.
