Full Job Description
RRC is seeking a talented Civil Project Engineer to conduct full civil designs of renewable projects (wind, solar, BESS), which includes: hydrology and hydraulics, and drainage design; site planning and development; access road layout, horizontal and vertical roadway design; transportation and component delivery path layout; permitting support; fencing and erosion control; grading design; and civil support during construction.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, motivation and initiative, and ensure the execution of civil engineering designs in complete compliance with required codes and standards, best practices, quality, safety and environmental requirements, as well as compliance with schedules and costs. This job position reports to the Director of Civil Engineering

Duties / Responsibilities:
- Discuss project requirements with the client while delivering value engineering.
- Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, health and safety, and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required. Create and review drawings using CAD tools.
- Define and manage civil project scope and budget, monitor project progress and compile status reports for assigned projects.
- Assess the environmental impact and risk connected to projects.
- Bid proposal support.
- Manage multiple projects.
- Ensure sites meet legal guidelines and health and safety requirements.
- Deliver civil engineering designs and optimization in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and industry practices.
- Day-to-day management of assigned projects
- Plan, define project tasks, schedule, and deliver on-time execution of civil scope of work and project deliverables.
- Be responsive to the needs of the client and project requirements.
- Analyze survey, mapping, and materials-testing data to complete work assignments usingcomputer modelling software.
- Perform materials take-off, estimated costs and assess potential projects risks.
- Conduct hydrology and hydraulics study, drainage design with erosion control, and horizontal and vertical roadway design.

- Support handover processes of as-built civil structures and activities.
- Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders for assigned projects, as required.
- Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
- Up to 25% travel is expected and can include overnight stays for several days.
- Jobsite visits require the ability to traverse uneven or rough terrain, including bending, stooping, twisting, and climbing.
- Sitting is involved for most of the day while in the office but a raised desk workstation is available.
- Minimal lifting requirement of 20 pounds or less on an infrequent basis
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Ability to work within matrix organization.
- Proven ability to interface with clients and coordinate with other internal staff and disciplines.
- Ability to work with autonomy in complex tasks and in multiple projects, and under pressure.
- Effective verbal and writing communication skills.
- Fluent English is required, Spanish is a plus.
- Commitment to and experience in QA/QC, safety, and on-time deliverables.
- Strong skills for interpretation of site survey and topographic surveys into drawings and definition of needs for drainage and culverts
- Experience in evaluation of road alignment/path, earthworks (cut/fill) and other applicable solutions for road design, quantity and cost evaluation and quantity balance.
- Experience in flooding analysis and in drainage and culverts sizing.
- Must be available for domestic travel, and for on-site meetings and support.
- Valid Driver's license.
- Knowledge of informatics
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Microsoft Project.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D preferred.
- HercRAS, FLO2D or similar.
- PVCase or similar.
- Finite Element software.
- General knowledge of BIM processes and applications.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master’s Degree is preferred.
- PE license is preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
- Possess and maintain NCEES records in good standing
- 5+ years of experience in transportation and road design
- 3+ years of experience in civil engineering for renewable projects (wind, solar, BESS, etc.).
- Experience in public and private projects, client relations, proposal writing and coordination with Public (local, state and/or federal) staff is a must.
