Full Job Description

  • Oversees the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of volunteer workers with varied backgrounds and experience on an ongoing/as needed basis for client services, administrative/office assistance, fund raising events, and other appropriate tasks.
  • Formalize, standardize, and maintain the volunteer program in compliance with Medicare and other accrediting bodies.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer program job descriptions, task lists, and other appropriate materials for the volunteer program.
  • Oversees and assists at special events / programs (i.e. Annual Golf Outing, Street Fairs, Senior Care Events, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Holiday Outreach,etc.).
  • Connect volunteers with staff and programs needing volunteer support
  • Respond to requests from groups and individuals for volunteer opportunities and/or projects.
  • Train volunteers and/or ensure that training is received from other staff as needed. Develop and maintain volunteer administrative records, training curriculum, and training checklists.
  • Develop and carry out plan for ongoing volunteer relations and program evaluation to ensure volunteer feedback and satisfaction with program.
  • Ensure that project and department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Ensure that an appropriate volunteer appreciation program is in place and carry out program to include planning annual volunteer appreciation events.
  • Participates as part of the interdisciplinary hospice team and psychosocial support team
  • Attends weekly interdisciplinary hospice team meetings
  • Oversees all volunteer activities for the Meals on Wheels Program
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required (preferred in human services, business field, and/or social services related area).
  • 2-3 years of volunteer experience in health setting preferred.
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Great interpersonal, networking, and rapport building skills with boards, community members, coworkers and volunteers needed.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills required to include the ability to write documents needed to manage the program such as volunteer job descriptions, brochures, and program related press releases.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills needed to perform training and information sessions.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures.
  • Ability to positively lead all volunteer staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Experience in a nonprofit organization preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Schedule flexibility to meet the needs of volunteer activities and initiatives
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or an approved Medical or Religious exemption.
  • Annual Influenza vaccination or an approved Medical or Religious exemption.
