We are looking for an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our control software group and develop solutions to control complex electro-mechanical and chemical systems. In this position, you will apply your knowledge of control theory and programming to create control algorithms that automate hardware systems involving chemical reactors, combustion devices, and fuel cells. This role will require close collaboration with a team of chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineers to gather specifications on system behavior and dynamics, which you will use to design the system control logic, implement, and tune control algorithms, and support testing in laboratory and field demonstrations.
- Develop innovative controller strategies for improving Amogy’s Powerpack system control and performance
- Design control loops and state machine logic for Amogy’s Powerpack system
- Develop plant and controller models for a simplified system to help design robust and reliable control systems
- Identify risk scenarios and alarm responses required to ensure safe system operation
- Work with the verification team to conduct software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing of the control software and electronics
- Create detailed schedule to layout tasks, and update on progress and issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and translate system requirements into control logic
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Chemical, Mechanical or related engineering field with a strong background in control theory
- 5+ years of work experience in designing, analyzing, implementing, and debugging feedback control systems
- Knowledge of classic and modern control algorithms, such as PID loops and model predictive control
- 5+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink, State Flow, and its Control toolbox
- Understanding of combustion and reactor systems and fuel cells operation
Preferred Experience
- Experience with developing control systems for chemical processes controls/ automotive controls
- Experience with the implementation of a model-based control design
- Experience working with automotive communication protocols, e.g. CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
