The People Specialist, HR Advisory & Compliance provides comprehensive HR support and advice to employees and managers across the organization. This role is responsible for handling day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment law, and assisting with employee relations, recruitment, and performance management. The HR Advisor acts as a key point of contact for HR-related queries and works to ensure the smooth implementation of HR policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate for this position will reside in the metro NYC area with the ability to work out of our office in NYC about once per week. Remote work within the EST time zone may be considered. This position reports to our Director, People Advisory & Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional HR Advisory and Services:
- Provide HR partnership for strategic and operational HR initiatives in the US region, offering day-to-day HR support and execution of strategies.
- Act as a key advisor to the US team, understanding business needs and providing HR solutions to support growth and organizational goals.
- Keep PC&S team informed on relevant HR trends and regulatory updates that may impact the business, building relationships to gain support for HR initiatives.
- Advise leaders and employees on HR policies and procedures, including performance management, employee relations, and organizational practices.
- Ensure compliance with US employment laws, covering federal, state, and local requirements, and manage employee-related legal processes as needed.
- Implement and update HR policies and procedures to align with local regulations and organizational practices.
- Support efforts to improve the work environment, employee engagement, and company culture through HR programs.
- Identify and address strategic, operational, or compliance-related HR risks.
- Support HR administrative tasks, coordinating with the HR Shared Services team to maintain accurate employee records.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to align US recruiting efforts with company-wide hiring strategies.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development to support onboarding programs and deliver learning initiatives for new hires and employees.
Partner with Global HR Teams:
- Work closely with global HR Business Partners to implement and adapt global HR initiatives to meet regional needs.
- Support key HR processes in the US, including performance management, organizational changes, and compensation planning.
- Assist in implementing global Learning & Development initiatives to close performance gaps and enhance employee development.
- Address employee relations matters as needed, in consultation with global HRBPs and management.
- Contribute to organizational design initiatives and support HR aspects of restructuring when required.
Requirements
What You Need:
- 4+ years of experience as an HR Advisory, HR Specialist, or similar HR role, preferably in a multinational or fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels and build strong working relationships.
- Solid understanding of US employment laws and multi-state HR compliance requirements.
- Proactive, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments, with a focus on practical solutions.
- Experience with HRIS systems and Jira is a plus, with strong organizational and data management skills.
- Exposure to global or multinational HR practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Canadian employment law is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.

The pay for this position is anticipated to have a base salary range of $60,000 to $110,000. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
