Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Provide sufficient flow of material to the production floor staging area while maintaining a high level of accuracy in the warehouse.  Handle inbound and outbound freight. Assist in the daily activities of the production floor.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned) Load/unload trucks and complete proper paperwork including tagging all incoming materials. Maintain proper organization and levels of materials including, but not limited to:

• Performing cycle counts and assists in physical inventories.

• Remove finished goods and materials from the production floor/conveyor and arrange product in proper rows.

• Making the best use of rack space.

• Deliver UPS/FedEx packages to their correct departments/location. Implement and monitor material issuance for on-going projects including, but not limited to:

• Issue materials from the warehouse via Stock Request form.

• Return materials to the warehouse from staging; and weigh/count materials and tag appropriately.

• Bring out empty skids for use in production. Select proper skids for best utilization. Maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment Including:

• Sweeping warehouse at end of shift.

• Breaking down Gaylord boxes and storing appropriately;

• Operating the floor scrubber.

• Retrieving unusable skids.

• Weighing recycle Gaylords and load on staged trailer.

Prepare material for use on production floor including, but not limited to:

• Reviewing material sheets to conform proper usage and conformity to customer’s specifications;

• Mixing material in the correct ratio and quantity as needed for jobs;

• Placing material in dryers, setting correct temperatures, and using dew point meter to confirm dryer is operating properly; and Monitor material usage regularly such as weighing and properly documenting daily scrap; and purging production area of “old” materials and fill out appropriate paperwork, both on the production floor and in the warehouse.

Monitor machine operation and perform routine duties including, but not limited to: 

• Cleaning and maintaining hoppers and granulators;

• Replace filters on vacuum loaders when needed; 

• Answering material alarms and performing repairs on loading equipment per level of ability.

• Following 6S and JI standards according to the operating procedure Perform operator duties as required during operator shortages and help out on production floor for breaks, lunches, etc when needed.

Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Qualification Standards:

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• Proof of current Forklift Certification required.

• Previous Warehouse experience desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Contribute to the overall success of the company by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner. 

• Promote the Quality Improvement Process.

Equipment, Machines, and Software Used: Sit down fork truck. Able to use hand lift truck, pallet wrapper, and weigh scale.  Able to use general office equipment such as computer, phone, fax machine and copy machine.  

Mental Requirements: Light mental and visual attention required for performing work where there is some variety but actions taken and decisions made are limited to few possibilities. Able to identify materials including virgin, regrind, pre-colored, natural, etc.  Operate mobile equipment in congested areas.

Physical Requirements: Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 55 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.  Ability to sit and stand, particularly for extended periods of time.  Ability to push, pull and lift objects.    Ability to see, talk and hear.

Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondences 

Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to calculate ratios and work with formulas.

Environmental Conditions: The employee is subject to noise sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

The employee is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such proximity to moving mechanical parts, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

The employee is subject to one or more of the following atmospheric conditions that effect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation. Safety, Protective Clothing and Gear Requirements: Safety requirements for this position include but are not limited, to eye protection/hearing protection when on the production floor and in the tool room.
