The Assistant Store Manager at the Trop and Jones location of Las Vegas Petroleum plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager in delivering exceptional operational performance and customer service in a fast-paced convenience store environment. This position entails assisting in directing daily operations, managing staff, overseeing inventory, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Operations Management:
- Assist in the management of the daily store operations, ensuring a seamless functioning store.
- Participate in opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and bank deposits.
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and organization.
- Support inventory management processes, including stock replenishment and merchandising.
- Customer Engagement:
- Ensure customers receive prompt and friendly service, addressing their needs and concerns.
- Promote customer loyalty by fostering a welcoming and helpful environment.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively and professionally.
- Encourage team members to deliver outstanding customer service experiences.
- Team Leadership:
- Support recruitment, training, and development of store staff to enhance performance.
- Assist in creating employee schedules that meet operational requirements.
- Provide daily coaching, feedback, and support to team members.
- Promote a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and motivation.
- Inventory Control:
- Help manage inventory levels, track sales patterns, and assist with order placements.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and ensure timely stock rotations.
- Oversee product displays and ensure compliance with merchandising guidelines.
- Work to minimize shrinkage by identifying discrepancies and implementing loss prevention strategies.
- Sales and Financial Performance:
- Assist the Store Manager in achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Monitor daily sales performance and help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with the management of operational costs, including labor and inventory expenses.
- Health and Safety Standards:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in training staff on health and safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers.
- Reporting and Administrative Duties:
- Assist in preparing required reports on store performance and team metrics.
- Resolve operational issues and provide solutions to enhance store efficiency.
- Support audit processes and maintain accurate documentation as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in business or retail management is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in retail or convenience store management is desirable.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills to inspire and lead a diverse team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
- Knowledge of inventory management and retail operations best practices.
- Familiarity with financial principles related to sales and expenses.
- Proficient with point-of-sale systems, cash handling procedures, and MS Office tools.
- Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
