Safety Ambassador

Office Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

Position Classification: Full-Time Regular, Second Shift 2pm - 10pm

Hours of Work: Second Shift

About This Opportunity

As the Safety Ambassador at Rockford Property Management, you will be responsible for executing safety criteria for multiple locations of managed properties. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for executing safety criteria for multiple locations of managed properties, such as maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our managed properties to an excellent standard. The Safety Ambassador is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines at all times and successfully complete tasks/maintenance tickets in a timely and efficient manner. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition along with ensuring a safe environment for tenants and staff. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Keep deliverables for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and monitor the implementation of the overall property safety plan and guidelines.
  • Take corrective action at the properties to keep spaces clean and safe for patrons, residents, tenants, and team members.
  • Foster good working relationship with tenants, residents and community partners.
  • Conduct site inspections across multiple locations checking safety of entrances and cleaning up exterior spaces.
  • Perform comprehensive onsite safety assessments of Rockford's managed properties.
  • Participates in facilities and safety meetings.
  • Maintains digital records of safety and maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and direction to property managers, facilities Team Members, and other Rockford Team Members regarding safety procedure improvement, and individual asset needs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in safety and/or security related experience preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • MIOSHA 30-Hour training certificate required.
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company safety policies. Must process the ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills and management of multiple tasks at once.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) 365.

Bonus Skills and Experience:

  • Web-based work order and/or Yardi experience.
  • Certifications such as HVAC, Building Maintenance Technology, First AId and CPR.

Environmental Factors

The work environment for this position is a mix of a typical office environment, and visits to properties. Visits to properties may involve travel. The physical demands may require frequent lifting of 50 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. The individual may also be subject to hazards commonly associated with construction including high temperatures, humidity, cold temperatures, and climbing stairs and ladders. Other examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subject to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Use of mobile equipment and power tools will be frequent. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including proper footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest and/or other special clothing shall be worn when required.
