Full Job Description
MHA seeks a motivated Shift Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Program Supervisor, providing leadership and support to residential staff while empowering participants to achieve their recovery and rehabilitation goals. You will model a strength-based approach, promoting growth and opportunity for both staff and participants. As a Shift Supervisor, you will oversee the coordination and delivery of services, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and MHA policies and regulations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Supervisory Duties:
- Provide direct supervision, guidance, and empowerment to relief residential support staff in individual and group settings.
- Assist staff in supporting participants with daily living needs, health monitoring, and engagement strategies.
- Conduct supervision meetings and staff evaluations, ensuring compliance with policy standards.
- Facilitate staff training, team-building, and clear communication of program goals and objectives.
- Assist in tracking attendance, managing schedules, and following up with non-compliance.
Administrative Tasks:
- Monitor program documentation, including contact notes, rehabilitation plans, medication records, daily logs, and Individual Action Plans, to ensure compliance.
- Respond promptly to medical and psychiatric emergencies and notify the appropriate supervisor.
- Coordinate communication among interdisciplinary teams (e.g., nursing, DMH, hospitals, primary care providers).
- Attend workshops, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Participant Support and Advocacy:
- Empower participants to access community resources, develop life skills, and achieve self-determination and recovery.
- Provide direct support for daily living activities, including personal care, household maintenance, cooking, and budgeting.
- Act as a liaison for participants with external providers, family members, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate psycho-educational groups and weekly house meetings.
- Support participants in accessing education, employment, and recreational opportunities.
Health and Safety:
- Utilize a trauma-informed approach to empower participants in managing triggers and pre-crisis situations.
- Administer medications in compliance with MAP standards.
- Report incidents of abuse or neglect and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, including performing household tasks as needed.
Teamwork and Professional Development:
- Foster a collaborative team atmosphere, prioritizing participant needs.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and required training.
- Seek professional growth opportunities to enhance job performance.
- Maintain certifications in medication administration (MAP), CPR, and first aid.
Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- At least six months of relevant experience; one year preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and adapt to participants’ changing needs.
Preferred:
- College degree in human services or a related field.
