An Opportunity for Graduates from Low-or Middle-Income Countries

Costello Medical provides scientific support to the healthcare industry in the analysis, interpretation and communication of clinical and health economic data. Through both commercial and charitable projects, we are dedicated to the improvement of health and healthcare globally.

Our Global Health Internship offers individuals from low- or middle-income countries (as classified by the World Bank) the opportunity to gain skills in evidence-based medicine by working on a healthcare problem which is relevant to their community. The internship aims to equip you with skills to apply to projects in your own country; it is not intended for gaining experience and eventual full-time employment at Costello Medical.

This internship aims to support individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds who might not otherwise have access to this type of experience. As part of the application, we may ask questions about your and your parents’ financial status.

About the Role

This unique role offers you the opportunity to work collaboratively with us to design and conduct a global health-related project relevant to your community. We welcome project proposals relating to any of our service offerings, but examples of past projects include:

  • Conducting a systematic literature review to assess the effect of bereavement care for parents after stillbirth in Ghana
  • Developing an educational toolkit to improve the management of newborn infections in low- and middle-income countries
  • Assessing the cost-effectiveness of cervical cancer screening in Kenya

We will share our skills and knowledge in evidence-based medicine, research design, and medical communications. You will also have the opportunity to learn a range of technical skills relevant to your specific project approach.

This full-time will last for around three months, depending on your availability. We are currently recruiting for a start date of June 9, 2025. The successful candidate will be based in our Boston office.
