Requirements
Experience:
- 2-3 years with a degree from a university or accredited college, or 5 years of experience with no degree or advanced certifications.
Preferred Experience:
- P-8A Application Based Architecture (ABA) and or,
- P-8A Tactical Open Mission (TOMS) software and TOMS Software Development Environment (SDE).
Personnel Clearance Level:
- Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance.
Certifications:
- Security+ (or equivalent DoDM 8140 certification)
- RHCSA Red Hat Certified System Administrator (highly desired)
- Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) (highly desired)
- Linux Foundation Certified IT Associate (LFCA) (highly desired)
Important Characteristics to be Successful:
- 3 -5 years of experience as a system administrator in Linux.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Solid communications and customer service skills.
- Experience building virtualized environments.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize, and execute against multiple priorities.
Essential Job Responsibilities (not all-inclusive)
- Operate Linux-based systems, understand key concepts, use Linux to deploy and operate applications and services, and understand Linux networking fundamentals and its role of supporting cloud-native deployments.
- Provide a wide range of systems administration and operational network set-up to include, but are not limited to:
- Provide system administration of Network, Web, and communication systems, including Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems. This includes administration of user accounts, passwords, email, chat and FTP.
- Configuring servers, create monitoring reports and logs, and ensure functionality of network links.
- Troubleshooting commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) automated data processing (ADP) equipment to the lowest sub-assembly /module level identified in the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manual, and provide a repair action report with recommendation to appropriate authority regarding the repair or replacement with the next higher level assembly/module.
- Supporting assessment and authorization efforts in accordance with existing Security Directives.
- Monitor website for acceptable performance and user accessibility.
- Consult with and advise users on computer operating system related issues.
- Configure and optimize network servers and associated encryption technologies.
- Being responsible for system configuration management implementation.
- Preparing technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions including course of actions, milestones, timelines and critical paths required for complete solutions.
- Preparing activity and progress reports regarding the network performance.
- Regularly perform audits of network and server policies and procedures as directed by the Information Assurance Manager (ISSM).
- Analyze IA security scans and DISA STIGs in order to update and maintain the system authorizations.
- Monitor and ensure commands compliance with published IA policy and guidance at a minimum, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) and Bulletins (IAVBs), Operational Directives, Cyber Command Task Orders.
Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000 annually.
