JOB SUMMARY
Prince Industries in Batavia, IL is looking for a Production Supervisor to join our Fabrication team. This position is on 2nd shift: 2:30pm - 1am Monday - Thursday. The Production Supervisor effectively supervises 2nd shift production personnel and maintains production operations by fully utilizing shop facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve the quality, production and efficiency of operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and oversees 2nd shift production operations daily.
- Understands, observes and enforces all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc.
- Maintains and enforces good order and discipline throughout the shop.
- Maintains and enforces good housekeeping and safe work conditions.
- Coordinate with scheduling to ensures critical machines are staffed and running jobs according to priority.
- Ensures materials and jobs are moved in a timely manner and staged for next day operations.
- Ensures shop personnel have resources necessary to perform work; may involve conducting inventories of shop supplies, metal working fluids, or equipment, and submits purchase requisitions in a timely manner.
- Reviews all correspondences (i.e. voice mail messages, emails, faxes, mail) and responds to all requests in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the overall quality of manufacturing on 2nd shift.
- Monitors work center and employee efficiencies using Epicor to correct and/or reconcile labor hours and part quantities.
- Evaluates and advises on adequate staffing to maximize machine utilization as it relates to the production load.
- Submits engineering change requests (ECR) in a timely manner to assure awareness of all job performance: above or below standard.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers and assigns duties as needed.
- Holds meetings with 2nd shift personnel when necessary to communicate work related matters, safety, and training discussions.
- Regularly attends weekly production meetings to discuss all department production & operations to formulate methods of improvement.
- Recommends methods to working conditions, processes and use of equipment that would improve efficiency and reduce material and labor waste.
- Accurately communicates all necessary production, staffing and equipment issues to all shifts, department leads, and Plant Manager.
- Interprets and enforces all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws.
- Performs personnel tasks with the assistance of the Human Resources Department as needed, to effectively maintain departmental staff; such as: interviewing and training, addressing complaints, investigating and resolving employee issues, conducting performance reviews, and administering disciplinary actions.
- Consults with Plant Manager and/or Human Resources Manager on all personnel matters, such as substandard work or company policy violations to determine appropriate action required before disciplinary actions or terminations take place.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Plant Manager; may include administrative tasks, direct labor, cleaning, off-site product delivery, or any other work required to meet company's production needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
- 7 or more years previous work experience in related machining/fabrication environment.
- Previous supervisory or lead experience.
- Apprenticeship, formal training, college course work or continuing education in Fabrication preferred.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMEMENTS
- Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and any procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form and interact appropriately with all levels of the company.
- Proficient in basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- General knowledge in Metrology and Proficient in the use of inspection equipment (ex: caliper, micrometer, height gauge, optical comparator).
- Proficient in blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances.
- Ability to perform advance shop math skills and calculations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills required to schedule work assignments and prioritize urgent matters.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure; involves coping with stress and maintaining a composed, professional manner in all circumstances related to employees or co-workers.
- Extensive knowledge of machine equipment and tooling requirements.
- Exceptional knowledge with related industry's concepts, practices and procedures.
- Mechanically inclined.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to stand or walk with a sense of purpose the duration of the shift.
- May require sitting at a desk and using a computer/typing for short periods.
- Regularly lift, push or pull up to 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently required to sit, stoop, kneel, reach or bend.
- Specific vision abilities include close tolerance in which 20/20 vision is required or corrected vision to 20/20 is required.
- Regularly exposed to moving machine parts.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.
- The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, in which hearing protection is required.

COMPENSATION
$35 - $37 Hourly Pay
