Acorn is looking for a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer to take on a technical position and help guide our team of engineers to create innovative, world class products. This position requires a broad design engineering background in robotics and automation.

This is an onsite position based out of our Newark, CA office.
Requirements
YOU NEED:
- BSME required, MSME a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of technical system-level design experience – from architectural definition to design to release to manufacturing
- Experience with motion control hardware including motors (steppers, servos, dc motors) and position sensors (encoders, limit switches etc.)
- Experience with end effector design is a plus
- Multiple projects designed, fabricated, and tested
- Automation experience for industrial applications and manufacturing lines a plus
- Hands-on system bring-up and integration with a cross functional team
- ME analysis experience in kinematics, structural, thermal and tolerances,
- Materials and component selection expertise
- Proficient in Solidworks CAD and FEA
- Project Management experience is a plus
PLUS:
- Client interface capability and experience
- Hands-on practical performance in shop/lab work
- Design for manufacturability (high/low volume)
- Project and technical reporting
- Understanding of ISO 13485 (a plus)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, build and testing of systems and critical components
- Brainstorm, design, and compare potential product architectures against client metrics.
- Identify and perform critical engineering analyses and tests from concept evaluations to production verification
- Work with team to define product specifications, schedules and resource planning
