Baldwin Park, california

Job Details

Full-time

Full Job Description

About Us: The size of the solar-generation market has grown 15X in the last decade, and shows no signs of slowing down.  Caelux is spurring this rapid growth by developing and deploying a novel perovskite technology that dramatically increases the power and efficiency of solar modules, at a lower cost per watt.  For more information visit www.caelux.com.

Job Summary: The Equipment Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 6-8 equipment engineers (controls, mechanical, and electrical engineers) who support all lifecycle phases of Caelux’s factory and lab equipment: RFP/RFQ, selection, installation, qualification (FAT/SAT), integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrading, and decommissioning.  The team also does custom design-and-build work as needed (both mechanical and controls).  Typical deliverables include supplier scorecards, facilities matrix, P&ID, line lists, safety/hazard analysis, factory and site acceptance testing reports, controls ranging and tuning, spares planning, energy control plans, operation and maintenance SOPs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team growth:  Analyze skillsets, identify gaps and opportunities, translate into learning opportunities and hiring plans.  Provide feedback regularly to staff to help them grow in their careers.
  • Develop job aids and standard workflows: Develop and implement a comprehensive equipment development and deployment workflow.  Create (or delegate creation of) templates for typical deliverables including supplier scorecards, facilities matrix, P&ID, line lists, safety/hazard analysis, factory and site acceptance testing reports, controls ranging and tuning, spares planning, energy control plans, operation and maintenance SOPs.
  • Manage team activities and coordinate with other teams: Plan and delegate tasks and projects to staff; secure resources; check on progress and adjust frequently.  Coordinate activities and knowledge-sharing with other key teams (especially Process Development and Operations).  Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of objectives and adherence to quality standards.
  • Roadmap execution: Set priorities for improvement of total cost, OEE, and throughput.  Create test plans to de-risk new capital equipment investments.  Identify and implement advanced technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Leadership: Identify and make investment cases for new equipment that can help Caelux reach overall company objectives and customer expectations.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure equipment and facilities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Communicate progress and challenges to staff, other departments, and executive management.
