The Human Resource Generalist position works onsite in our Santa Clara, California headquarters. This role reports to the Director of People. Key metrics for success in this role include managing the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including creating payroll, being the point of contact for employees, conducting new hire onboarding and orientation, ongoing employee training, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
- May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
- May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, driver’s licensure, and client-related requirements.
- Manages E-Verify processes and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Other duties as assigned
Compensation Range $31.25 to $44.50 (hourly rate)
Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Employment Classification Regular Full-Time
Requirements and Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Repetitive lifting is required with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least two years of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP is a plus.
- A valid California Driver's License is required for this position.
