Full Job Description
Liberty Behavioral and Community Services, a provider of mental health and community-based services for people with autism and developmental disabilities, is seeking an experienced and proactive Controller to join the growing team. The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial operation of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and leadership skills and a commitment to maintain the financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Oversee all accounting functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management to review.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and management of the annual budget, ensuring financial objectives are met. Provide ongoing analysis and financial forecast.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings, and assist with internal and external audits.
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud or financial mismanagement.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage the organization’s cash flow, including monitoring accounts, managing banking relationships, and ensuring sufficient cash resources.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline financial operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall financial reporting process.
- Cross – Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with senior leaderships, department heads, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision making.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Prior experience in nonprofit or behavioral health settings is highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel (experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar preferred).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
