Full Job Description
To direct and manage the day to day operations of the Intake and Assessment Center. Monitor, supervise, and coordinate all inquiries, assessments, and admission functions. Ensure prospective service; link recipients’ to appropriate resources or care providers; provide a smooth compassionate admission process for patients and their families.
Essential functions
*Pay Range: $85,000 to $115,000 Annual Salary
Essential functions:
- Coordinates and supervises inquiry calls from prospective patients, referral resources, and/or patient’s family members.
- Coordinates crisis consultations and assessments in house and off campus.
- Facilitates referral to outpatient services for those patients not appropriate for in patient treatment.
- Support and assists Intake Counselors/Staff as needed and appropriate.
- Ensures the legal, clinical, and financial rights of all patients admitted to the hospital.
- Is readily available to provide guidance, assistance, and consultation to staff off hours.
- Coordinates admissions functions during night and weekend coverage.
- Develops, review, and implements Assessment and Referral service policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Intake and Assessment Center staff.
- Cooperates actively with HR Department to select, orient, and train department staff.
- Schedule Intake and Assessments staff efficiently to optimize service.
- Prepare a monthly report for the CEO, including conversion ratio data.
- Maintains admission logs, physician census, telephone logs, and call tracking information.
- Facilitates the flow of information between departments and the Assessment and Referral services.
- Coordinate with Director of Nursing to complete annual performance evaluations for clinical staff (e.g. Registered Nurses).
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for department staff.
- Develops, monitors, and maintains up to date procedure guidelines up to the Joint Commission standards.
- Maintains a complete and accurate referral index system
- Participates in public relations efforts among hospital physicians, physician’s staff, and referral agents.
- Ensure professional relationship and rapport of Intake and Assessment staff with Medical Director, Clinical Directors, and physicians.
- Performs timely and appropriate follow up to all inquiries, assessments, and referrals.
- Works collaboratively with other department directors and staff.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in behavioral science related field (e.g. Education, Psychology, Social Sciences), or Registered Nurse (CA License)
- Current BLS certification required

Preferred Education and Experience:
- At least two years management experience preferred.
- Experience in Behavioral Healthcare setting, hospital preferred.
- Licensure preferred (e.g. LMFT, LCSW, LPCC), but not required
- Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in supervising staff and fostering team development.
- Inpatient experience in a behavioral healthcare setting, hospital preferred.
- Knowledgeable of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health.
- Familiarity with continuum of care, assessment, and interventions skills.
